Use these easy 3 digit phone numbers available in most areas:
111- doesn't exist (?)
211- provide quick information and referrals to health and human services
311- non-emergency municipal services (trash pickup, dead animal removal, city info, etc)
411- Directory assistance (FEE for most uses, sometimes free for payphones) alternative: 1-800-free-411
511- road and weather information; sometimes a transit and traffic information hotline
611- problem with the telephone service, or with a payphone
711- TDD for the deaf to speech, and vice versa
811- traditionally a direct line to the business office of the telephone company providing service on the line
911- Emergency Services
